Chetan Anand will take on promising youngster P Kashyap in the men’s singles final of the 29th PSPB badminton tournament at the Siri Fort complex here on Friday.
Chetan, representing ONGC, defeated team-mate Siddhartha Jain 21-12, 21-13 while IOCL’s Kashyap got the better of GAIL’s Ravinder Singh 21-13, 21-13.
Aditi Mutatkar will face Aparna Balan in the women’s singles final. BPCL’s Mutatkar defeated BR Meenakshi of IOCL 21-17, 21-13 before Aparna, turning out for IOCL, trounced GAIL’s Neelima Chetri 21-3, 21-4.
Rupesh Kumar and V Diju claimed the men’s doubles title while Jwala Gutta and Shruti Kurian were a class apart in the women’s doubles.
Rupesh and Diju, representing ONGC, registered a convincing 21-10, 21-8 victory over team-mates Thomas Kurien and Siddhartha Jain. The titlists had earlier got a walkover in the semifinal against IOCL’s Nikhil Kanetkar and JBS Vidyadhar.
In the second semifinal, Kurien and Jain defeated Jaseel P Ismail and Marcus Bristow of IOCL 21-14, 21-10.
Jwala and Shruti of BPCL defeated IOCL’s Meenakshi and Aparna 21-15, 21-13 to claim the title.
They had breezed past Neelima and Maya of GAIL 21-1, 21-3 in the last four stage, whereas Meenakshi and Aparna had an easy time against Vineeta and Sampada of EIL 21-4, 21-6.
