He will arrive in Bangalore on March 25 and leave for Chamarajnagar. He will proceed to HD Kote to interact with tribals. Earlier, he had planned to begin the tour from Hubli.
He will leave for Mangalore on March 25 itself and address a public meeting on March 26.
Later he is scheduled to interact with youth, mainly college students and also professionals in Mangalore.
KPCC President Mallikarjun Kharge and State Youth Congress President Krishna Byregowda told media persons here on Thursday that on March 26 itself he will leave for Hubli from where he will visit Gadag, Bagalkot, Bijapur and Raichur. During his visit to these places, Rahul will interact with NGOs, farmers, stree shakti groups etc. On May 28 he will return to Bangalore from Raichur.
On the next day he is scheduled to participate in a public function which is likely to be held at a place abutting Bangalore-Devanahalli road.
Stating that Rahul’s visit was aimed at opening the doors to the youth to join the party, Krishna said that an open membership drive would be launched during the visit. “The youths can also send SMS or call the call centres set up for the purpose to register their names”, he added.
Moreover a campaign for donating eyes would also be launched coinciding with Rahul’s visit.
‘Discovery India!’
All India Youth Congress leaders Ashok Tanvar and Meenakshi Natarajan took exception to media’s description of Rahul’s visit as “Discovery India Visit”.
“The purpose of the visit is to connect himself to every section of society and try to attend to their problems. Moreover his visit is in no way connected with the ensuing elections in Karnataka”, they added.
