The move proves that the constitutional mandate still prevails in the country. The State is in need of a popular elected government and the decision of the Election Commission to hold elections by May is timely and welcome. They have upheld democratic norms and sentiments of people.
BJP State President D V Sadananda Gowda
We congratulate the Election Commission. It’s a big achievement indeed to revise the voters list, complete the delimitation process and conduct election. Congress tried all tactics to postpone polls but their efforts failed. A popular elected government is the need of the hour.
BJP leader and ex-chief minister B S Yeddyurappa
I welcome the Election Commission’s decision to hold elections before the expiry of the President’ Rule. The new assembly should be in place before May 28. For that the commission has to hold elections by second week of May. Our party is ready to face the elections. We have been working towards that.
S Bangarappa, state president, Samajwadi Party
It is unfair on the part of the EC to conduct the elections in a hurried manner. Anomalies in the voters’ list should have been set right and the same should have been made available even at gram panchayat level. The ID cards have not been distributed. It is unilateral decision taken by the EC. Now we have no alternative but to face the elections. As a political party, the BSP will get ready for it.
P G R Sindhia, BSP, National General Secretary
I welcome Election Commission’s decision to hold the elections in May. We will fully cooperate with the EC in fulfiling it’s constitutional obligation; Our complaint was against the Anomalies in voters list.
Mallikarjun Kharge, KPCC President.
I wish wisdom will prevail upon the EC and it will prepare a perfect, genuine voters’ list before holding the election. If elections are held as per the already published voters list, it will be a betrayal of voters confidence on EC and a great disservice to the democracy.
