Lokayukta Santosh Hegde said “Citizens can call and file their complaint.” Trained personnel will man the helpline. GPS system will help in tracking the call, he added.
Hospital details
If one calls in the event of an accident or medical treatment, the system will also display the details of nearby hospitals, fire stations in the area along with road maps and police station details. This will minimise the time taken to extend the help needed.
All the calls to the helpline will be recorded and a senior official will keep a check on the facility on a daily basis. To a query Hegde promised that he would take personal interest about the facility.
He also touched upon the clause in the Prevention of Corruption Act that required them to obtain the government’s permission to file a court case against an official and said that it had to be dropped.
“Whether a corrupt official is nabbed red-handed while accepting a bribe or we recover unaccounted wealth during a raid, it means the same. With all the evidence, what is the reason for us to obtain the Government’s permission to file a court case,” he said.
