Moily hails budget
Bangalore, dhns: AICC media cell chairman Veerappa Moily on Saturday hailed the 2008-09 budget as a bold step that synchronises a vibrant development and succour for aam admi.
He, in a release, said that Finance Minister P Chidambaram has incorporated the objective of 11th five year plan for “faster and inclusive growth” in the budget.
DVS flays budget
Bangalore, dhns: The state unit of the BJP on Saturday claimed that the farm loan waiver scheme announced in the union budget won’t bring benefit to farmers in the state.
Addressing a press conference in Bangalore, BJP State President D V Sadananda Gowda said a majority of farmers in the state had already repaid their debt amount as the scheme was for loan availed up to March 31, 2007. Further, farmers in the state had already availed the benefit from the state’s loan waiver scheme. A majority of farmers had availed loans from private money lenders and the budget had made no provisions for them.
He said that 60 per cent of the benefit of Centre’s scheme would go to farmers of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and MP.
