He was speaking at a press conference organised at former minister K M Krishna Reddy in Chintamani.
BJP & Congress
He also added that the JD(S) had maintained an equidistance from both the Congress party and the BJP since 1999 and nothing has changed. “In the last 40 months the public has seen the work that Kumaraswamy has done and the very many programmes that he has implemented. It is on this basis that we ask for the people to vote for us,” he said.
Kumaraswamy is expected to begin his visit to all the districts from April 10 after which the nomination procedure for the tickets will begin.
Committee
A committee will be set up under the leadership of Kumaraswamy and Mirajuddin Patel who will announce the list of candidates.
Azim Kamble will be the chairperson of this committee and will present a report which will be discussed by the senior leaders of the party. Devegowda also added that the real strength of the party was with the party workers and not its leaders and wished all the leaders who have left the JD(S) all the best.
Alliance
“JD(S) has made no decision to forge an alliance with the Samajwadi party yet. Leaders of both parties have been talking but nothing concrete has been decided. We are confident that the people will look into their soul and give us an absolute majority.” he added.
Taking pot shots at both the Congress and the BJP he said both have made allegations about Kumaraswamy being corrupt but BJP had kept mum when it shared power with the JD(S).
SMK beware
Reacting to Congress leader S M Krishna about the BIAL, he said that SMK should not forget the final decisions about the BIAL were taken during Dharam Singh’s time.
