Time was when it used to be Thank God It’s Friday. Not any longer, if the dull business is anything to go by.
According to Ashok Sadhwani: “The market is dull. My sales have gone down by 50 per cent. Long weekend, exams and the rain have wreaked havoc on business. Pubs and bars across the City seem to be hit,” he said.
Nareen of ‘Zero G’ lounge bar hoped people will make it to his place on Saturday.
“Earlier, most people would head to Goa for a weekend but now Goa has a problem of timing. Pubs and bars there have to shut down by 11:30 pm. Let’s hope we get some people tomorrow,” he said. ‘Sphaira’, the lounge bar on M G Road also had a poor show on Friday. “Our numbers are down by 30 per cent... we’ve never had it so bad. These long weekends aren’t good for us pubs and bar owners,” he complained. Ashish Kothare of ‘Legends of Rock’ in Koramangala says his past experience of long weekends hasn’t been good. “Majority of IT people live in Koramangala. They go out of the City on a long weekend so we hardly get people in ‘Legends,” he said.
