Briefing reporters after holding discussions with party MPs and core committee members in Bangalore on Friday, newly appointed party poll in-charge Arun Jaitley said the BJP will hit the campaign trail projecting party leader B S Yeddyurappa as its chief ministerial candidate.
The campaign strategy will be further streamlined in the next few days.
By and large it will be a confident BJP that will hit the campaign trail. As Jaitley, on his maiden visit after being appointed election in-charge, said, the main poll plank would be betrayal by the JD(S).
Replying to queries, he ruled out the possibility of the polls throwing up another hung assembly. The verdict this time will be decisive as people are aware of the price that the State had to pay due to coalitions, he said.
On whether the BJP will enter into a pre-election tie-up with its NDA partner the JD(U), Jaitley said the core-committee would take a suitable decision in consultation with party’s central leaders.
‘Bangalore vision’
The BJP is working on a “Bangalore vision” and a special poll campaign trail for the constituencies in the State capital. According to party sources, Bangalore will be given special focus as the number of the constituencies in the region has increased from 16 to 28 following the implementation of the recommendation of the Delimitation Commission. Hyderabad Karnataka will be another area of focus for the party, the sources added.
Meanwhile, in the coming days the party will constitute the campaign committee, logistics committee, publicity committee and manifesto committee.
Ex-CMYeddyurappa said the BJP will release its first list of candidates within two days after the announcement of the calender of events for elections.
