Race
Manasi Paresh Kumar
Hindi (A)
Cast: Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif, Sameera Reddy
Director: Abbas Mastan

It slithers and twists and turns and has enough surprises to keep you glued to the end. It is one of the most well shot Hindi movie in a really long time. The camera work is breathtaking, with nailbiting action sequences.

But don’t be fooled because not all is well with this serpentine effort that Abbas Mastan has named Race. The screenplay that stops and speeds up at its conveniece does not bode well for a thriller.

The Cain and Abel in this story are Ranvir (Saif Ali Khan) and Rajiv (Akshaye Khanna) who own a stud farm in South Africa. One hates the other enough to kill him,so teams with wives and girlfriends and finishes off the job.

Then there are the crosses and double crosses among those who live. Enter a smooth talking, fruit eating detective with an equally shady character and you have no clue who is on whose side.

The three male leads are fantastic and it is a tough choice to decide who plays the role of the jerk the best.

But among the ladies, it is Katrina Kaif who delivers a knockout punch. She breaks her image of a delicate flower! Sizzling and manipulative, she manages to overshadow the other two in their comfort zone of playing sexy sirens.

Saucy ladies, macho men to fill a galaxy, slick editing, good dialogues, foot tapping music and a few edge of the seat moments (especially the climax)... Race has it.
