Few events can match the thrill of an F1 race. But it's just not about the speed and thrill.
It's the cars, those beastly, mean machines churning up in excess of 900 horse power as they do over 300kmph, with the throttle fully open.
The speed is the fun part for the spectators, not so for the teams. It's just such a complicated world out there for them. Watching races on television, or even at the venue, the team engineers and mechanics make it look just so easy. But in reality, it is not. Be it fuel loads, choice of tyres depending on track conditions, aerodynamic set-ups, pit stop strategies and timings to name just a few are things that differentiate a winning team from a losing one.
Factors that determine a first, second or third place is high-precision work, from the whole team. If one fails in his or her duty, the entire team fails. That is how a Formula One race is won or lost, glory achieved or glory lost.
Whether there are tears of joy or tears of pain depends on the whole lot doing their best and as one unit. That is what Formula One is all about.
All the preparations the teams have made will be put to the ultimate test over the next two days. What they have achieved or not will be known only on Sunday afternoon. Till then, the teams keep working and working hard. That is what keeps the teams going to perform better ahead. That is the way Formula One works.
