Wins bet, loses life

Bangalore: A newly married man gulped a full-bottle of whisky and died at his residence in Itamadu in Chanammana Kere Achukatu police station limits on Friday night.

Police said Puran (23), a granite businessman from Rajasthan, and his friends were celebrating on the eve of Holi festival.

Midway through the party, Puran took a bet to empty the bottle in one go. He won the bet but lost his life.
Within hours of consuming liquor, Puran complained of uneasiness and collapsed.

Infant runover

A four-wheeler ran over a plastic bag in which the body of a one-day-old infant was packed, on II Main Road, Vyalikaval here on Saturday.

According to Marimuttu, an eyewitness, an unidentified bystander had kicked the plastic bag, which was lying  in front of a public toilet behind the Vyalikaval police station without realising what was in it. Vyalikaval police have taken up a case and are investigating.

Two  killed in mishap

Two persons were killed in separate mishaps in the city on Saturday.  Syed Omar Farooq (26), a resident of Bangarpet, was killed when a BMTC bus dashed against his bike in  Airport traffic police limits on Saturday night.

The bus driver is absconding.

In a hit-and-run case, Nikhil (8) was knocked down by a bike in Byatarayanapura traffic police limits on Saturday afternoon.

Nikhil was trying to cross the road in front of  house in Hosaguddahalli when the mishpa occured.

Man kills wife

A man allegedly murdered his wife suspecting her fidelity on Saturday morning. Shivakumar used to pick up quarrel with Lalitha (45), a resident of Marathalli.

When Lalitha started arguing, Shivakumar hit her with a stick.She succumbed to injuries.
