There can be no change in society unless there is economic progress of women, Taluk Panchayat President H B Gowramma said here.

Inaugurating International Women’s Day and the annual day of Stree Shakti self help groups she said that women are now able to achieve economic independence by getting loans, running micro enterprises and saving money through self help groups.

Child Development Project Officer Nataraj, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that women should unite themselves and solve their problems. Along with economic progress women should also bring a social change and put their stamp in society.  ZP member Gangarappa, who spoke on the occasion said that women should come forward to solve local problems like drinking water, road repairs and electricity.

More than 100 women participated.
