Jamma Bane: Samiti plans 'Rajbhavan chalo'
DH News Service, Madikeri:

Kodagu Astitva Horata Samiti has resolved to hold ‘Rajbhavan Chalo’ to pressurise the Governor and the State government to implement the order of the government of withdrawing the circular related to Jamma Bane controversy.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the committee held at Bhagamandala on Saturday with the participation of Samiti convener Dada Belliappa, co-convener Vasu and former minister M C Nanaiah.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Mr Nanaiah said the committee would take a suitable decision as how and when to conduct the Rajbhavan Chalo in the next 15 days.

Though the previous coalition government announced that it had withdrawn the circular, the order has not come into effect officially so far.

The deputy commissioner has sought for clarification in this regard, but has not received any reply yet. Instead of asking for clarification, he could try for the implementation of the order. But due to the oral instruction of the former principal secretary of the Revenue Department S M Jamadar to the DC, the crisis has not got any solution, Mr Nanaiah explained, delineating on the issues discussed during the meeting.

“In the meantime, former MLA A K Subbaiah met the Governor and everybody believed that the problem would be solved within a week in the backdrop of the positive response of the Governor. But no constructive changes are pertinent so far though 15 days have been passed already. Hence, the decision of conducting Rajbhavan Chalo was inevitable,” he added.

MLC C S Arun Machaiah advised for boycotting the forthcoming Assembly polls if the government did not withdraw the circular.

Convener Dada Belliappa said the final ideas regarding the Chalo would be taken in a meeting to held in Bangalore in the first week of April.

Former MLAs K G Bopaiah, M P Appacchuranjan, leader M G Kuttappa, Chamber of Commerce President Girish Ganapathi, Zilla Panchayat member Manu Muttappa, Rajeev, head of Kodava Samaja in Bangalore and Mysore, Madikeri Gowda Samaja President took part in the meet.
