The exhibition on the programmes of Bharatha Nirmana organised jointly by the Central government’s Information and Publicity Department, District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Information Department and Women and Child Development Department at Girl’s Government High School premises has attracted the attention of the public. Over 50 book stalls have been put up to provide information on the programmes of Bharatha Nirmana.
In the exhibition, information is being provided on government schemes including Total Literacy Campaign, Akshara Dasoha Scheme, National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, National Rural Health Campaign, new projects of BSNL, information technology, Jawaharlal Nehru National City Renovation Campaign, modern methods of cultivation and equipment, Water Resource Development Project, projects of Stree Shakhi Association and SHGs, Child Development Project and Act related to tribal and other forest dwellers, which attracted large number of visitors.
The exhibition drew crowd from different parts of the city, rural areas and also from corners of the district. The home-made food products and craft items prepared by Stree Shakti Groups and SHG Unions were on display at the exhibition. Photos on rebuilding the nation, information centre on recruitment to Indian army, NABARD Scheme, Information Technology, Housing Scheme of the Taluk Panchayat, information centre on Gonikoppa Science Centre, Coffee Board, Koodige Milk Dairy, products prepared by Khadi Gramodyog Mandali, Silk and Social Forestry Department, Postal Department, Agriculture and Horticulture Departments, information on facilities provided by State Agriculture Marketing Board were the other attractions at the exhibition.
Transport facilities were arranged for the visitors to the exhibition. Special emphasis is being laid on six aspects including improving village roads, irrigation, housing facility, drinking water in villages, rural health and telephone connectivity in villages in order to reduce the discrepancies between villages and cities in ensuring basic amenities. Different divisions of the Central Ministry of Information and Publicity including Directorate of Field Publicity, Music and Drama division, Advertisement and Visual Publicity division, Akashavani and Doordarshan divisions participated.
Prof B K Chandrashekhar who flagged off the campaign visited various stalls at the exhibition. The Central government has set aside Rs 1,74,000 crore for the projects to ensure basic amenities in villages. Under the Bharatha Nirmana programme, one crore hectares of land will be provided irrigation facility, 60 lakh houses will be constructed, electricity connections will be provided to 2,30,00,000 houses, drinking water to all residential areas and all weather roads will be constructed, Information and Publicity Department informed.
