Curfew was imposed in Chittorgarh city of Rajasthan following clashes between two communities on Saturday.
In another clash between two communities at Tonk town, several people including five police men were reportedly injured on the occasion of Holi.
Tension erupted in Chittorgarh following alleged vulgar graffiti seen on some buildings in the city, police control room sources said. Heated exchanges between two communities led to arson and pelting of stones in the old city.
Police resorted to lathi-charge and lobbing teargas shells to control the situation but the district administration decided to impose curfew in the evening due to continued arson in the city. No casualty was so far reported, sources said from Chittorgarh. In another incident in Tonk, several people including five policemen were injured following a communal clash. The incident happened when a group of Holi revellers reportedly behaved in an abusive manner outside a religious place of the other community.
