Gowda re-elected KVA president
DH News Service, Bangalore:

A Lokesh Gowda was unanimously re-elected as president of the Karnataka Volleyball Association in the Annual General Body Meeting held here on Saturday.

Though elections were being held after a gap of 10 years, it virtually turned out to be a 'selection' with a majority of incumbents retaining their posts unanimously.

The election was held in the presence of three neutral observes — Abdur Rehman (VFI), K Mohanraj (KOA) and Rama Gowda (DYSS).

K Nandakumar retained his post as general secretary, while MS Balaji Prabhu — who is an international referee — being named as Convenor, Coaching Committee, was the lone surprise.

While calling the election process as 'old wine in a new bottle', Lokesh Gowda promised to usher in changes to make volleyball a more attractive sport.

While saying that Bangalore will play host to one of the five test matches between India and Pakistan, the dates for which will be announced later, Gowda also announced that Pandavpura (Mandya district) will host the Junior National volleyball championship in the month of December or early January.
