Photographs related to sanitation along with their captions can be submitted by photojournalists working in newspapers and magazines across the country for the ‘Clean India Photojournalism award - 2008’. The contest is being held to commemorate the International Year of Sanitation - 2008 by Wes-Net India, UNICEF, WaterAid and Plan India with the Centre’s Rural Development Ministry.

The photos must be published in the one-week from March 20 to 27 in newspapers and magazines on the following themes: Sanitary facilities (rural/urban) - sewerage systems, hygiene behaviour - river pollution issues and solid waste disposal - wastewater management.

The first prize is a cash award of Rs 50,000, the second Rs 25,000 and the third Rs 15,000. Apart from this, each theme will receive prizes worth Rs 5,000. Copies of photos along with the original print must be submitted by April 15, 2008. Application forms can be downloaded from www.wesnetindia.org
