The Department of Information Technology (IT) has announced that the first round of tests for the Computer Skills Proficiency Test (CSPT) will be held on March 30. CSPT is a unique initiative by the Department of IT in association with MeritTrac, India’s largest skills assessment company to provide a government endorsed certification for basic computing skills.
According to, M N Vidyashankar, Principal Secretary, Department of IT, the objective of the programme is developing talent in Tier-II and Tier-III locations.
Dual zones
The state has, therefore, been divided into two zones from which students as well as working professionals can take up the test. The programme will kick start with the Bangalore Rural centre under the Karnataka South Zone which includes Kolar and Tumkur.
Candidates can register themselves department’s website (www.bangaloreitbt.in), and take up the test for a fee of Rs 50 to be paid at the time of the test.
The exam venues will be communicated when one registers or via e-mail. Registrations for the current phase will start from March 24. The dates for the next phase of the programme will be communicated later. Candidates will receive an e-certificate from the Department of IT that will attest their skill levels in the various sections of the test.
