BMTC employee dies in freak accident

A 52-year-old BMTC employee was run over by a bus inside the 6th Indiranagar depot on Old Madras Road on Saturday evening.


Police said, the bus was brought to the depot for repairs. While Gangadhar was busy with repair works at the rear side, assistant mechanic R Muniyappa was at the engine. The bus moved on the reverse gear when Muniyappa accidentally touched the gear lever.

Injured Gangadhar was rushed to Chinmaya Mission Hospital. After first aid, he was shifted to Hosmat where he succumbed to injuries.

Held for circulating fake notes

The CCB sleuths on Sunday arrested a man on charges of circulating fake currency notes and recovered counterfeit currency notes worth Rs 1.70 lakh. The accused has been identified as Jalaluddin (28), a resident of Uppala in Kasaragod district.

The police arrested him as soon as he landed in Bangalore. The police suspected that the notes might have been printed in Dubai as quality of the notes was high. He was an associate of one Abdul Rasheed alias Puttu Rasheed, who was in central jail in a similar case, added the police.

Two held for cheating

The CCB sleuths on Sunday arrested two persons on charges of cheating people and recovered counterfeit notes worth Rs 12 lakh.

The accused have been identified as Alexander alias Alex (58) and Daniel (56), both residents of Narayanapura.

The accused would collect money from the public promising them that they would treble the money. The duo used to operate from a hideout in Ramamurthynagar. The accused belonged to infamous gang of Subbareddy, who cheated people by promising of trebling the money.
