Tumkur City Municipal Corporation, Public Works Department (PWD) and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) have been showed their indifference to the roads.
In the summer commuters have survived pot-holes and have even resigned to their fate. However, due to untimely rains and stagnant water in the potholes, the roads resemble like fields.
Even the pedestrians are not spared. The slush on the road is often sprayed on the pedestrians by vehicles passing by it.
Circus on roads
It is particularly difficult for two-wheeler riders. To avoid the numerous pot-holes on the road, the motorcyclist have to don the role of a circus artiste and perform acrobatics on the road.
In addition to the pot-holed roads, the attitude of non-compliance of traffic rules resulted in roads becoming death knell. The district administration including the City Municipal Corporation as also the people’s representatives have chosen to ignore the bad condition of the roads.
The roads could be made worthy for vehicles by at least closing the pot-holes, but the citizens and associations appear to be in a deep silence and have not been questioning the authorities.
At Kunigal circle, there are potholes on roads leading to three directions. The entire stretch of the road leading to Amarjyothinagar is full of pot-holes. The situation on Kothi Tope Road and Ashok Road is also no different.
It is hoped that at least the roads in the City limits could be set right, before the situation turns worst with the onset of the monsoons.
