Implementation of development programmes should be a continuous process and achieving progress through such programmes should be the target of these programmes, opined former MLA K Srinivas Gowda.
He was speaking after inaugurating Rs 31.58 lakh worth projects under the Suvarna Grama Yojane in Shillangere village which comes under the Harati gram panchayat limits of Kolar taluk.
In the first phase, Shillangere village had been excluded from the Suvarna Grama Yojane. Later on, this was also included in the scheme. Under this scheme, funds were being released phase by phase from the various departments, the former MLA informed.
A total of Rs 2.60 crore would be spent under the Suvarna Grama Yojane. The village members should extend their co-operation to the projects which are being implemented in their villages. And also keep a guard on the quality of the projects which are implemented, Mr Srinivas Gowda suggested.
He said, most importantly, the village members should pay attention when concrete roads are being laid in the villages. They should pay attention towards the quality standards of the works implemented, he added.
Grass root level
He said he was not elected as an MLA all at once. He began his political career from the grass root level.
What all the development works were required, he had tried to implement them during his capacity. He had not done anything which could put himself into an embarrassing position.
Principles
He had lived, believed and followed the principles of great leaders like C Bhairegowda, Venkatagiriyappa, etc and had tried his best to remain honest and disciplined.
Now that Harati hobli had been demarked from the Kolar constituency and had been included in the Bangarpete constituency, and that he would no longer contest for elections from this place, however, he assured that he would always ready to reciprocate to the feelings of the people residing here, he added.
Gram panchayat president R Venkateshappa presided over the programme. Zilla panchayat member Mangamma Muniswamy, Holali Prakash, gram panchayat member Venkatesh Dodnahalli, Annapoorna Bai, Sonnegowda, Narayanappa, Khaleel, Channaveeraiah, Rajanna, Jaffer and others were present on the occasion. Archana rendered the invocation. Gram panchayat secretary Prakash Malya welcomed and Shrinivas compered the programme.
