India's Karun Chandhok finished seventh in the second race of the GP2 Series event held before the start of the Malaysian Grand Prix here on Sunday.
The iSport International driver had crashed out of the first race on Saturday after colliding with compatriot and Team DPR's Armaan Ebrahim. The latter's car was just too badly damaged for him to start the race. Later, Chandhok said: “It was a good race considering I started from the 15th place. I think to make up eight places was a good thing for me. The car was quick and the team did a great job. The car certainly has the potential to be among the top three.
“The positive side of the whole thing is that the big team guys were all watching and I qualified on the front row of the grid for the first race.” “I look forward to the next race in Bahrain, which will also have a GP2 race with the Formula One event. I hope there are no problems there,” he added.
Ebrahim was disappointed: “The car was just too badly damaged. This was a learning experience.”
Kamui Kobayashi (Dams Racing), Romain Grosjean (ART Grand Prix) and Vitaly Petrov (Barwa International Campos team) finished first, second and third respectively.
