Would you believe that Kallamma, a resident of Beerasandra village on the way to Devanahalli, is 125 years old?
This grandmother, whose staple diet in ragi mudde, is still active. The hale and hearty woman has never been to a hospital for treatment.
Her eyes are sharp enough to see even small stones in a rice heap.
Kallammma is the wife of late Patel Siddegowda, a well-known farmer in the surrounding seven villages before the pre-independence time.
The grand old lady has four children, 26 grand children and 43 great grand children. The total family members she has taken care of is 180. Only three years ago, the family was divided.
Since the beginning sheep rearing and poultry farming has been her hobby. “Even today she feeds grains to the fowl”, say the family members.
Not only her eyes, even her other faculties are functioning normally. She does not suffer from diabetes, blood pressure or any other disease. Her favourite food is ragi mudde and she still continues to relish it every day.
