Police stations to be relocated
Vijayapura, dhns: The police department will see large-scale changes once the international airport takes off.
The existing Chikkajala and Devanahalli police stations will be shifted to Chennarayapattana and Vishwanathapura. A search is on for new offices for these stations.
The office of the Circle Inspector will be moved to Vijayapura. The new police stations as well as Vijayapura Circle Inspector’s office will, in all probability, begin functioning by this month-end.
New DySP Abdul Karim Ahmed inspected the corporation anganwadi building, located beside the water tank, for the office of Circle Inspector. Later, he inspected the office of Chennarayapattana Fruits and Vegetable Growers’ Association, and is said to have expressed his appreciation of the same.
Later, GP President C Nagaraja Gowda told reporters the panchayat meeting had decided to shift the existing Safal office in order to accommodate the police station.
Sources say with Devanahalli now coming under city limits, four ACP offices and additional police force will be deployed.
Air cargo revenue to go up
The Department of Customs, Bangalore, which earns around Rs 2,500 crore per annum through the air cargo complex at the HAL airport, is expecting a minimum 25 per cent growth in the air cargo once the BIA is operationalised.
“Bangalore will become a huge hub of air cargo in South India with the BIA. We will need additional manpower and have asked for 30-40 Customs officials to take care of the additional work load. Right now we have 70 officials at the HAL airport,” said a senior Customs officer.
