BJP Yuva Morcha presidents
Tumkur, dhns: As a part of its move to strengthen the party BJP Yuva Morcha unit has appointed presidents of all the wards.
The election was held during a meeting held under the presidentship of Delta Ravikumar, said a press release.
BJP Yuva Morcha district president Batarangegowda, district Secretary T L Ekant, City Secretary Jyoti Prakash and Prasanna Kumar, City Yuva Morcha Vice President Manohar Gowda were present at the meeting.
In the meeting Ms Banashankari was appointed as the spokesperson of Yuva Morcha, according to the press release.

Mass marriage in April
Kunigal, dhns: The Sri Subramanya Samaja Kalyana Seva Samiti will organise the second annual simple mass marriage ceremony will be on 18 April 2008, managing trustee M K Ashok has said.
Speaking to Deccan Herald on Monday, Mr Ashok said that last year, when the ceremony was held for the first time, under the leadership of Samiti honorary president S P Muddahanumegowda, 204 couples were married off in the ceremony; of these 42 couples were Muslim.
Durgadevi Jatre held
Chikkanayakanahalli, dhns: Durgadevi jatre was celebrated with pomp in Niruvagallu hills hobali in Handanakere Taluk. Celebrations went on for eight days. Various religious and cultural programmes were conducted. The decorated deity was taken on a procession from the main temple to Basavapattanna. Several devotees took part in holy bath, Holleseve and Bana programmes. They also participated in the Utsava. T Tandya group performed Kurukshetra a Bailu Nataka.
CPI to hold protest meet
Tumkur, dhns: CPI is holding a protest meet on Tuesday urging for solutions to the problems affecting the public. A protest will be held in the private bus stop and vegetable market on 25 March at 3:30 pm. This will be a part of the nation wide movement, according to a press release issued by CPI.
Education pact with S Australia
Tumkur, dhns: Tumkur branch ICFAI Management institute has made an education pact with South Australia in which ICFAI will open a campus in Adelaide, according to the press release. At a recent meet in Hyderabad, prime minister of South Australia Mike Ryan and ICFAI’s president Subhash Sarnikar signed the joint pact. According to the pact, initially ICFI will start off postgraduate programmes. Later degree courses will also be started in a tie up with other universities of South Australia.
Bangarappa in City today
Tumkur, dhns: Samajawadi Party State president S Bangarappa is visiting City on Tuesday to organise the party for the forthcoming elections. He will be holding a press conference in the city guest house. At 10:30 am a public meeting will be held in Hebburi said Shivkumar, Samajawadi Party Zilla Youth Unit President.
Another public meeting will be held at 12 pm in Hollavanahalli, Koratagere Constituency.
Shivkumar has requested all the party workers and fans of Bangarappa to participate in large.

Chikkanayakanahalli, dhns: A second PU student of Government College was debarred from writing mathematics paper since he was caught copying.
Concert held
Renowned Carnatic vocalist and playback singer P Unnikrishnan enthralled the music lovers in Puttur on the eve of ‘Kalopasana - 2008’. According to a press release, he was accompanied on violin by Avanishwaram S R Vinu, on mridangam by Tumkur Ravishankar and on ghatam by Tumkur Shashishankar. A recipient of many awards and disciple of wellknown musicians like Dr S Ramanathan, Calcutta KS Krishnamurthy and Savitri Satyamurthy, Unnikrishnan is credited with the bridging of the classical music - film music divide which had been last achieved by KJ Yesudas.
Workshop in SIMS
