Sangha to start edn institute
Madikeri, DHNS:

To commemorate the centenary celebrations of Kodagu Gowda Vidya Sangha, the Kodagu Gowda Vidyasangha Shatamanotsava Samiti has decided to start another educational institute.

Speaking at a press meet organised on Saturday, Sangha President Hosur Ramesh Joyappa and Samiti Honorary President K G Bopaiah said the sangha will require Rs 50 lakh to start the new institute and for the centenary celebrations. Donations will be collected from the public to get the required funds, they said. The students hailing from backward class families as well as middle class families are unable to afford admissions for professional courses in the district.

In this backdrop, the sangha aims to start professional courses in the institute for the benefit of students from economically backward backgrounds, Joyappa informed.

Inauguration on April 20

The centenary celebrations will be kicked off with a cricket match between Gowda families at Mians Compound in the city on April 20. Throughout the year, cultural programmes, competitions and sports will be arranged in the district. Sports meet will be organised in the month of September-October.  The celebrations will be grand in November-December, he explained. To organise the centenary celebrations in a grand manner, 15 committees have been constituted
