Scrap CVS: FKCCI
Bangalore, DHNS:
Continuing their efforts to get the State Government to withhold CVS, the BBMP's new taxation system, a delegation of members from the FKCCI, and former Mayor P R Ramesh met former Chief Minister S M Krishna and Rajya Sabha member B K Hariprasad on Tuesday, seeking their intervention.

The members, who met the two politicians separately, apprised them about the new system and its impact on citizens. “We urged these leaders to speak to the Governor and ensure that the system is put on hold till a popular Government is formed. It is unfortunate that despite a series of protests, BBMP officials are adamant on introducing the system from April 1,” Mr Ramesh said.

Meanwhile, the FKCCI has called a public meeting on Wednesday to decide on the next course of action.

Residents’ protest

The Coordinating Committee of the Residents’ Welfare Associations of Indiranagar, a group of 21 associations, will stage a demonstration in front of the Mahatma Gandhi Statue. The members, led by their Chief Coordinator S C Burman (who is a retired IPS official), will also meet the Governor and submit a memorandum seeking that the system be scrapped.

Secretary of the Coordinating Committee G Ramamoorthy said the associations would  seek intervention of political leaders to get the system scrapped.

The CPM has urged the Governor to scrap the scheme.  The party has threatened to launch an agitation if the demand is not met.

sir, after all the protests, dharna, etc the citizens of bangalore shouldnt think they have done their bit and now its up to the authorities to do the needful.Infact the battle has just begun.Yes its a battle b'cos we the citizens are always made to pay for the ineffeciency of BBMP. If the Article by Mr.Mathew Thomas {DH March 21 and 28}is true BBMP should collect dues from defaulters and spare us the unfair burden of CVS thats not levied elswhere in india. We need to see that CVS is Scrapped.
