Sharif also launched a fresh broadside against embattled President Pervez Musharraf, renewing a call for him to accept the mandate against him in the February 18 general election — in which his ally PML-Q was defeated by PPP and PML-N — and step down.
He said a parliamentary committee will be set up to review all policies initiated by Musharraf. Parliament will take action on recommendations given by the panel. Sharif, who met visiting US Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte and Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs Richard Boucher, said he discussed with them bilateral relations and briefed them on his party’s views on the war on terror.
