Of the 176 taluks in the State as many as 164 taluks have recorded excess rainfall during this period.Normal life has been disrupted in as many as 17 districts. These details were provided at a high-level meeting chaired by Governor Rameshwar Thakur and was attended by his advisors,for reviewing the rain-havoc in the State.
Damage
The number of houses damaged has risen to 6,796, while standing crops in 1,62,369 acres have been affected. Jowar, wheat, coffee, bengalgram, cotton, mango and cashew are the main crops that have been affected due to the rain.
According to a press release from the Raj Bhavan Secretariat, the Governor has instructed senior officers to tour the affected districts and supervise relief work.
Deputy Commissioners have started releasing Rs 1 lakh as relief to the families of those who have lost their lives.
Mr Thakur also gave directions for the release of funds to the affected districts based on assessment of damage and will also tour some of the districts .
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao will meet senior officers of the Union government in New Delhi on Wednesday, to apprise them of the extent of damage suffered by the State due to unseasonal rains.
