Only 26.15 per cent of persons with disabilities in the State have been provided with disability certificate, which makes them eligible for concession and benefits.
The State has not been able to achieve the utilisation of the mandated three per cent funds for the welfare of the disabled under all poverty alleviation programmes.
These details were provided at a review meeting by the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, GoI, Manoj Kumar to monitor the implementation status and utilisation of funds in the State.
As per a press release it was also observed that there were no uniform guidelines and appropriate environs for the education of children with disabilities.
Mandya district was found to be the only district to have achieved 90 per cent progress in issuing disability certificates and identity cards.
