JD(U) flays Congress
The JD(U) has alleged that the Congress party has no concern about welfare of the State. “Though thousands of people are suffering due to heavy rains, the party is least bothered. Everybody in the party is after Rahul”, JD(U) State General Secretary GKC Reddy told media in Bangalore on Tuesday.
JD(U) State Vice-President Dr V Venkatesh, speaking on the occasion, expressed his confidence that the party will win over 55 Assembly segments.
EC calls for meeting
Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao has said that the State is prepared to assist the Election Commission in holding elections to the State assembly.
Special train on Mar 26
A special train will run at a speed of above 100 KMPH on the newly converted broad guage track between Nanjangud and Mysore on the Chamarajanagar-Mysore section on March 26 and 27.
A release said the Commissioner of Railway Safety will be conducting statutory inspection on the track. Regular trains will be introduced thereafter. South Western Railway appeals to the public to not indulge in trespassing on the specified track as it could prove fatal.
KPSC interviews to 100 posts
The Karnataka Public Service Commission will conduct an interview for recruitment to 100 posts of Second Division Surveyor in the Survey Settlement and Land Records Department from March 31 to April 4, at the Head Office of the Commission in Bangalore. Interview notices to eligible candidates have been dispatched, a release said.

Air Force recruitment
The Indian Air Force is holding a mega recruitment rally at Ranga Mandir near district hospital in Chitradurga. The qualification is 10+2 or equivalent exam with English, Physics and Mathematics.
Candidates should have been born between July 1, 1987 and Sept 30, 1991. They should report at the venue on April 9 for non-technical trade and April 11 for technical trade.
RGUHS exams rescheduled
Bangalore, dhns: In view of its 10th convocation on March 29, the RGUHS has rescheduled to April 15, the examinations of BTP, BSc Nursing, BSc Nursing PC, BSc Radiography, BSc Allied Sciences and BPharmacy of March / April 2008. These exams were earlier scheduled to be held on March 29.

US honour for Indian scientist
Bangalore, dhns: Dr S S Iyengar, eminent computer scientist from Louisiana State University, USA and current holder of the ‘Homi Bhabha Professorship’ at the IGCAR, Kalpakkam has been recommended for a huge US $ 7,60,000 project for the Department of Defence in the USA.
The project envisages reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisitions for surface warfare analysis, surface ship combat systems and mine countermeasures. A special feature of the project is its aim to increase educational and career opportunities for the academically talented, financially disadvantaged students to reach their fullest potential. A distinguished alumnus awardee of the Indian Institute of Science in 2003, Prof Iyengar is also fellow of the American Association of Advancement of Science and has the distinction of having 39 doctoral students under his supervision.
