Crucial meet on borewells today
Bangalore, dhns:

A crucial meeting will be held between top officials of BWSSB and BBMP at Cauvery Bhavan on Thursday to decide on the status of borewells existing in the former CMC areas. This follows the poor response in newly added BBMP areas for new water connections for obtaining Cauvery water.
Commissioner Dr S Subramanya and BWSSB chairperson G Latha Krishna Rao will take part where it will be decided whether the BBMP can hand over the borewells to the BWSSB from April 1. The borewells were handed over by the CMC to the BBMP when the areas were incorporated into it.
“Only 1,000 people have opted for new water connections out of 70,000 households. We have received over 5,000 appl     ications but the amounts to be paid are not correct,” said an official. There is tremendous reluctance for paying water bills every month for Cauvery water”, he added.
