Is the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath (KCP) passing through a financial crisis?
“Yes,” says T Prabhakar, the president of Chitrakala Parishath.
“We get a grant of Rs 40 lakh from the government and Rs 15 lakh as fees from students but there is a need for at least Rs 1.2 crore for the maintenance of the college. We are struggling to cope with the situation,” he said.
Talking to media persons he said the government should give at least Rs 1 crore to run the institute besides Rs 10 lakh to pay salaries to the 30 teaching staff. There is a need to establish a research centre and auditorium in the college, for which money is required, said Prabhakar.
The KCP wore a festive look on Wednesday during the annual function where students in different attires added grace to the ceremony. Dance and songs marked the annual day of Chitrakala Parishath.
