There is often a charming aspect to the nightlife of a city. As the dizzying day slowly gives way to the glow of lights, the City comes alive with cafes and bars thronged by people who like to chat, drain a drink or two or quite simply unwind themselves in the cool breeze watching the crowd.
Nightlife in a city can of course reveal its hidden beauty. The obscure intersection that has a roadside coffee stall, an illuminated heritage building or a street with quaint buildings - all awaiting to be discovered. Indeed, Bangalore would soon learn of such places of beauty hitherto unknown, thanks to a Nokia contest. Called Nokia Nseries Soul of the night (www.soulofthenight.in), it will be flagged off on April 6.
“The inspiration for this contest is the kind of technology found in today's mobile phones,” explains Vineet Taneja, head-GTM, Nokia India. Registration for the contest began on February 15 and will be open till March 29. Those registered on the site were given five questions and 10 of them who answered them in the shortest time were chosen for the contest.
Chosen participants will be embarking on a journey across the City, discovering the night clubs, bars and restaurants using Nokia's N82 device.
“Bangalore doesn't actually have a nightlife. Whatever we enjoy after darkness can be categorised as late-evening life,” says Prasad Bidapa, one of the ambassadors.
For Charu Sharma, another ambassador for the City, nightlife isn't only about cafes and bars, but also about culture. “Though bars and restaurants keep the city bustling in the night, it can be extended to include cultural activities like theatre and drama. I feel such things truly reflect the city's soul."
