Unravelling secrets

Namma Nimmalli is followed by Vismaya, a programme aimed at educating people about superstitions and blind belief. The programme will also bring viewers things that are either strange, weird or downright inexplicable.

Directed by Chandra Barkur and conducted by theatre and television actor Ramesh Pandit, Vismaya delves deep into the secrets of Time. It may unearth a forgotten historical fact, a devastating prophecy or an astonishing human feat. Or it may unearth a curious tradition followed in some remote places. Take for instance, the temple dedicated to Lord Shiva at Devaraguttu in Andhra Pradesh.

Around five lakh people go on a Jaitra Yatra (victory procession) during Dasara. The procession idol (Utsava Murthy) is taken around in procession. However, in a bizarre convention, some people try to steal the idol, only to fail. Curiously, the police here do not register any complaint in this regard! Nor do the people themselves mind such activities, that take place during this period.

Whatever the case maybe, viewers are in for an exhilarating ride towards acquiring more knowledge about their fellowmen and the world in general. Vismaya is telecast every Sunday at 11.30 am.
