If Shah Rukh Khan thought it would be easy going with Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, he better revise his strategy now.
The rival Indian Cricket League promoted by Zee has roped in Mithun Chakraborty to take on the might of King Khan.
"Yes, I have given my nod to ICL. I want to honour the sentiments of all -- not of Kolkatans alone--. I was always interested in floating a soccer or cricket team. Now I have an opportunity," said Mithun.
"Unlike many, I understand the game and I can't be taken for a ride,” he added. The presence of former Bollywood star could also help in boosting the brand image of the Craig McMillan-led team, which has so far hardly received any attention from media or sports afficionados.
"My plus point is that I am the son of the soil. They (Khan and IPL) have their own way of seeing things. I have mine. So, there can't be any comparison. But I can tell you one thing. I'll not quit without a fight," he asserted.
The first boost for Mithun came when the state sports minister Subhas Chakraborty asserted that it would not be difficult to get Eden Gardens for staging ICL matches.
