The AICC on Wednesday appointed former minister C K Jaffer Sharief as chairman of the manifesto committee, to prepare the Congress programme for the elections to be held to Karnataka Assembly. It also appointed members to the four other poll-related panels.
The PCC Co-ordination Committee for which Union Minister Prithviraj Chavan, AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka, is the chairman, will consist of former chief minister Dharam Singh, Legislative Council Opposition Leader H K Patil, KPCC treasurer Shamnur Shivashankarappa. The chairmen of Pradesh election committee (KPCC Chief Mallikarjun Kharge, election management and co-ordination committee (S M Krishna), campaign committee (Siddaramaiah), manifesto committee and media committee (yet to be named) and all former KPCC presidents, will also be members of the co-ordination committee.
Ex-officio members of this committee will include: all members of the Congress Working Committee from Karnataka and all Union ministers from the State.
The Pradesh election committee will consist of 31 members besides permanent invitees, while the Krishna-led election management and co-ordination committee will have Janardhana Poojary as co-chairman. It will also consist of 31 members besides permanent invitees.
The campaign committee, headed by Siddaramaiah, will have 35 members with former PCC Chief Allum Veerabhadrappa as vice-chairman.
