Armed dacoits kill, loot cash, gold
DH News Service, Bagepalli:
Armed dacoits struck a farm house in Mittemari village of Bagepalli taluk on Monday night and escaped with cash and gold, after killing a person and seriously attacking four others.

Said to be one of the first such dacoities which has taken place in the entire history of Bagepalli taluk, this incident has left everybody dumb struck. The son-in-law Ramaswamy (30) lost his life in the scuffle that ensued between him and the dacoits, while the owner Ramareddy, his wife Muddamma, daughter Radhamma and relative Sunil Reddy have been seriously injured.

The condition of Ramareddy is said to be serious, according to sources.

Marriage

Ramareddy’s farm house is located very near to Mittemari village. The previous day, on Sunday, his son Anand had been married to a girl belonging to Hoskote. Everybody had returned on Monday. After visiting a temple on the way, the newly-weds returned to Hoskote.

An eight-member gang of dacoits gained entry into the house through the roof of the cattle shed and attacked the unsuspecting family members, who were sleeping.

Ramaswamy was married one-and-a-half-years back and is a father of a two-month old baby. When he tried to resist them, the dacoits mercilessly attacked him with sharp weapons and killed him on the spot. The dacoits were not masked.

Severe blow

When Ramareddy tried to save his son-in-law, he received a severe blow on his head. Ramareddy’s wife and daughter and their relative were also attacked by the dacoits. Meanwhile, another person in the house Pramila could manage to escape from the house, during the scuffle. The dacoits escaped with Rs 30,000 cash and gold ornaments.

The Bagepalli police was immediately informed about the incident and they rushed to the house along with the dog squad, but in vain.

The injured have been rushed to a hospital in Bangalore. On Tuesday, IGP Doreswamy Nayak, SP Krishna Bhat, DySP K A Nanaiah, Circle Inspector Pramod Kumar, Narayanswamy, Sub Inspectors Anand Kumar, Tabre Alam Pasha, Rasool Khan and other staff members visited the spot.

Speaking on the occasion, Doreswamy Nayak said all efforts would be made to nab the dacoits. State and Andhra Pradesh police will work together on it, he added.
