DH News Service, Bangalore:
The High Court on Tuesday directed five medical colleges to facilitate their students in various medical and para-medical PG courses, to take up their first year examinations in April this year.

As many as 129 students, petitioners, alleged excess fee demanded by the college managements.

The Division Bench comprising Justice Chidananda Ullal and Justice A S Pachhapure passed an interim order following petitions filed by - Dr Raghavendra B Gowdar and 23 other students of B M Patil Medical College, Bijapur; Dr Deepak Kumar and 25 others of Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar; Dr Nishant P Panegaon and 40 others of SMR Medical College, Gulbarga; and Dr Sangamesh S Kolligavar and 12 others of Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences; and Dr Shashikala and 25 others of Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore.

Excess fees

The 2007 petitions sought directions to the managements not to demand fee excess than that prescribed by the Fee Fixation Committee for the academic years 2007-08 and 2008-09. The Bench directed respective college managements to collect the examination fee from the students and forward their examination applications to RGUHS to enable them to write the exams scheduled for April 2008.

However, the students have to pay tuition fee along with any penalties payable as per the report of Justice Rangavittalachar Committee for Fixation of Fee for Private Professional Colleges within the next three weeks. Further hearing is posted to March 11, 2008.
