Management fest at BIET
Gururaja B R

Bapuji Educational Association was founded by a few philanthropists in 1958 to enrich education with world class facilities. It has 47 different disciplines of educational institutions under its umbrella. Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and approved by AICTE, New Delhi, was established in 1979-80 to provide need based technical education. The institution, which is named after Mahatma Gandhi, is situated in Davangere.

BIET-MBA programme, started in 1996, is a popular offering from the premier management institute. It is constantly endeavouring to stay ahead of the changes taking place in the business environment. It has organised a two day MaCuFe’08 (Management Cultural Festival’08) on March 7 and 8.

The institute has been successfully conducting such national events since 2003. For this event, about 600 students from 100 management institutes across India have been invited to participate. The event tests the leadership, HR, marketing, finance and business and organisational knowledge and skills of the participants. It is also a cultural festival, meant to build links of friendship and dialogue between future managers of organisations of our nation. Inter-collegiate competitions such as Mayabunder, Neil, Barren, Viper, Havelock, Cinque, Ross and Rangat have been organised as part of the fest.

Legislative Council speaker B K Chandrashekhar will inaugurate the fest on March 7 at 9.30 am.

The general rules of the competition are:

* A team of nine members can participate.
* Registration fee Rs 500 per team should be paid by demand draft/cheque (drawn in favour of “BIET&M” payable at Davangere) or cash.
* Please inform organisers about the time of arrival, so that proper arrangement for accommodation and transportation can be made.
* Participants have to produce their identity cards at the time of registration.
* The participants, participating in core events are not eligible to participate in other core events (core events: Havelock, Barren, Cinque and Viper).
* For over all championship trophy, cultural event (Rangat) is not considered.
* The decision of judges will be final.
