For the international tennis players, who are in the City as part WTA tour, Bangalore has so far been nothing more than a venue for the game. With their hands full and completely engrossed in the game, they have hardly stepped out to take a peek at what the City has in store. An attempt at that only draws in the media much closer apart from a large crowd of people who don’t take more than a split second to recognise the players.
The players prefer to keep to their rooms after the practice session as they want to concentrate on the game at present, say sources. But they also add that the players have heard about things to do in the City and places to visit around the vicinity. This they plan to do soon after the tournament.
The William sisters — Serena and Venus — seem to be the most enthusiastic ones and are waiting to venture out. Trendy jewellery and the traditional Indian saree are among the must buys on their shopping list. Unfortunately, their huge fan following restricts them from being able to head out. The sisters also have taken a keen interest in the wildlife reserves in and around the State and are making plans to visit them soon after the tournament.
For now, the focus is all on the game and holidaying is only secondary.
