Puneet Rajkumar is not a Poli after all. The actor who has had a string of hits with names starting from the letter A (Appu, Abhi, Ajay, Akash, Arrasu) will now be acting in and as Raj. The film, with story and direction by Prem, had annoyed Appu’s mother, producer Parvatamma Rajkumar over its title. The song re-recording has already begun under V Harikrishna who is scoring music for a Puneet film for the first time. Shooting is all set to begin on April 24, the late Rajkumar’s birthday. Before that, however, Puneet’s time will be taken up by Vamshi, directed by cousin Prakash.
A beaming Puneet, flush with the success of his latest Bindaas, was game to the gauntlet thrown by persistent scribes who wanted to know whether the hero or the director was important for a film. Puneet was quick to retort: “Neither. It is the script that is the most important.”
With such common sense on display one may rest be assured that Parvatamma will also have something less to worry. For, it is learnt that she is not too keen on all her three sons coming together to act. With Ohm, featuring the three siblings for the first time ever, and to be directed by Ravi Srivatsa for Pyramid Saimira, set to go on the floors shortly, it remains to be seen whether the mother’s diktat is obeyed or not.
