A lazy, happy-go-lucky guy experiences love and his life changes. This story may have been done to death in several films before, but new director Preetham is unwilling to reveal anything except that the film revolves around six characters. Suhasi, familiar to Hindi television audience, Chandrashekhar, Sharat Babu, Yamuna (who starred opposite Shivanna and Ravichandran in Modada Mareyalli and Chinna respectively), hero Kiran Srinivas (a model who was seen in a forgettable film) and another actor will essay the roles. And Preetham is keen to see that his Haage Summane ...pyar ho gaya does not turn out into another Mungaaru Male (MM) . To be shot in Kodachadri, Honnavar, Teerthahalli, Kabini backwaters and Mysore, the film will not be a repeat of the Ganesh-Pooja Gandhi starrer, says Preetham. “Haage Summane will be dead opposite of MM. While MM showed a lot of greenery, we want to show dry grass and backwaters. For songs though, we may go to North India,” he says.
Coming back to the story, Preetham says his hero Preetham has never come across love and the story is all about where love takes him. By retaining the hero’s name as Preetham, the director who feels it is lucky for him, has added the same to the list of all-time favourite names including Rahul, Sonia, Raj etc. Then again, the heroine Khushi, played by Suhasi, is a guitar strumming rockstar, an image change for a heroine.
So determined Preetham has chosen not to repeat the cast of MM in his film which will have a brisk screenplay as the director wants to keep it short and straight. However, keeping the MM audience in mind, he says there are six songs to be penned by Jayant Kaikini and will be set to Mano Murthy’s music. And the issue of local versus outside talent is a non-starter here as Preetham made it clear that he wanted Sonu Nigaam to sing two of the songs. Preetham then cleared the air on the MM II controversy stating that he was not willing to compromise on the story about which Ganesh was unhappy.
