Woman ends life

A woman committed suicide by hanging at her residence in Cauverinagar, in Kamakshipalya police station limits, on Wednesday. She has been identified as Prema (25), wife of Venkatesh, a real estate agent.

Police said the couple were married for five years and they had a three-year-old daughter.

Prema has left behind a suicide note which says she took this step due to harassment for dowry by her in-laws, said the police. Venkatesh, his parents - Narayan Shetty and Savithramma - were arrested in this connection.

8 held for theft

Cubbon Park police arrested eight persons and recovered eight cellphones, two autorickshaws, Rs 5,500, a Maruti van and seven wrist watches, all valued at Rs 3.45 lakh. The eight are: Ravi (23), a resident of Wilson Garden; Raghu (26), of BG Road; Kanikraj (23), of Hosur; Goru (25), of Narayanpur; Syed Jabi (24), of Sunkal Farm Layout; Ganesh (28), of Wilson Garden;  Manjunath (28), of Bilekalli, and M Nagaraju (35), of Adugodi.

2 held for murder

K S Layout police cracked a murder case by arresting two persons. The two have been identified as Kaarthick (24) and Gangadhar (23), both residents of Hanumanthnagar slum.

According to the police, the accused chased Divyaraju on the night of February 4 in a bid to kill him. However, Divyaraju fell into a drain. Seizing the opportunity, the accused stoned him to death, police said.
