Sir, Like the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, the Kannada Rakshana Vedike (KRV) is also behaving as if they own Karnataka and they are the sole custodians of Kannada culture and language.
There is nothing wrong in raising the voice of concern for their mother tongue but not at the cost of bitterness and violence for fellow Indians. Unfortunately, all these undesirable forces are growing up due to the indifferent attitude of people and vote hungry selfish politicians who are even prepared to mortgage anything on earth for the sake of power.
It is sad that all these developments are encouraged even by the so called elites in the name of love for their language and people forget that only national unity will ensure our survival.
The nation requires statesmen rather than selfish leaders who always think about their personal growth by nurturing divisions among people on different counts.
Let us behave sensibly instead of creating unwarranted violence against fellow Indians which will definitely ruin the nation.

Krishna’s return
Sir, As the election scene is yet to hot up in Karnataka, it may be too early for political parties or psephologists to make any predictions. But then, it looks, S M Krishna’s return is primarily intended to woo his Vokkaliga community and checkmate JD(S) supremo and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda who also belongs to the same community. The party high command feels that he is capable of preventing Gowda from running away with the Vokkaliga votes.

Clueless Cong
Sir, One faction in the state Congress is jubilant over S M Krishna’s return to state politics. The party high command has finally shown him the green signal in response to his repeated pleas. But the question is why the entire senior KPCC leadership is not showing any enthusiasm to welcome him? The BJP is much ahead compared to other parties in campaigning and the JD(S) is also ready to face elections whether it happens in May or at the year end. But, the Congress is still waiting for the high command’s signal.

Consider safety
Sir, It is quite disturbing that the Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) is in a hurry to commission the airport in utter disregard for safety considerations. (DH, Mar 7). The Air Traffic Control (ATC) hot-standby mode should not be compromised. Furthermore, the night landings and takeoffs should be tried out, as most international flights operate around midnight. The High Court of Karnataka should consider eliciting opinions of safety experts from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and International Air Transport Association, while disposing the Public Interest Litigations on the subject.

False case
Sir, The Supreme Court has given relief to Gowrishankara Swami, former junior pontiff of Siddaganga Mutt (DH Mar 5) by acquitting him in a falsely implicated case. But, the question is who will compensate him for all the humiliation he has undergone and the four years that he spent in prison? Will the High Court judges who erred in their judgement also be made accountable for tarnishing his image?
