There were no sarees, no blankets or liquor. All that the political workers had with them were pamphlets, and some cash to distribute to the voters of KR Puram constituency.
“Last night, political workers were roaming in groups in our locality. The next morning, we heard that they distributed cash with pamphlets. But they (political workers) did not come to our street,” said Abdul Azeez, a resident of the Vijinapura area.
Though Friday was the last day of canvassing, there was a lull in door-to-door campaigning in the daytime.
However, voters in Vijinapura were sure that the ‘promising’ Friday night will hold a lot of prospects.
“It’s a habit that on the last night before elections, political workers come to us and distribute whatever petty things we need. Last time we got 5 kgs of rice, blankets, liquor and cash also,” said Muniappa of Vijinapura.
At Ramamurthinagara, Congress workers were seen on a door-to-door campaign, and distributing pamphlets to the voters.
In the Bangalore South constituency, and parts of Ulsoor that come under the Shivajinagar constituency, there was silence a day prior to the polls, as no politician approached voters the whole day, leaving them to decide upon their future representatives.
