A Holly flick that’s a carbon copy of a Hindi movie you caught several years ago. Is that even possible?! Sure is... if they’re both copies of a Eastern film. Heh heh! That’s exactly the case with The Eye which brings back memories of Urmila Matondkar-starrer Naina, when in fact they’re both “inspired” by a Pang brothers’ film Gin gwai (The Eye).
Sydney Wells (Alba) gets a corneal transplant but raindrops and roses are not the only things she gets to lay her eyes on. Banshees and demons are also part of the package! Paul Faulkner (Nivola) moves from being sceptic eye doctor to friend indeed as he supports Sydney in her belief that there’s a teenager (ex-owner of peepers) in Mexico who needs her assistance. Not much nail biting happens here if you’ve seen the Hindi “original” or better, the Chinese “super original.” Alba’s acting skills aren’t exactly a temptation either. Don’t think twice about turning a blind eye to this one!
