Superintendent of Police North Goa Bosco George told Deccan Herald that Fiona was issued the summons soon after her statement to the media. “Since she has stated that she knows the identity of the man involved in her daughter’s death, we have issued her a summons to be questioned in the case,” George said.
The summons was sent to Fiona’s lawyer Vikram Verma who told the police that Fiona had already returned to the UK. The Goa police said they would move diplomatic channels to serve Fiona the summons.
The Goa government earlier this week issued a notification seeking to transfer the investigation into the Scarlett case to the CBI, which Fiona herself had sought.
The Goa police said they would not question Fiona, but the summons would serve the CBI to question her.
Fiona who was recently in Goa to claim her daughter’s organs which have been preserved by the Goa Medical College had to return without them.
The hospital said Fiona would have to follow the set protocol before the organs are released to be taken abroad.
