JD(S) ticket tug-of-war
Finally luck has smiled on former JD(S) MLA from the Bharamasagar constituency in Chitradurga district H Anjaneya. But he had to virtually run from the pillar to post to bag the Congress ticket for the Holalkere reserved seat. Even though most of the leaders who crossed over to the Congress from the JD(S) under the leadership of former Deputy Chief Minister M P Prakash were given the tickets, Anjaneya was not among them.
Instead the Congress gave the ticket to the Chitradurga District Youth Congress President Thippeswamy. After a hard struggle by both Prakash and Anjaneya, the Congress leadership was finally convinced that Anjaneya deserved to be given ticket in place of Thippeswamy.
But Anjaneya lost all his patience by the time the KPCC President decided to issue him a B form.
When a leader asked him to disclose the tricks which got him the ticket, an harried Anjaneya shouted at the leader, “What tricks do you think I played on Kharge? You think I bribed him to get the ticket? I straightaway approached him and pleaded for giving due consideration to my service as State Youth Congress President for a long time”.
Stumped by a cycle
The former minister B Z Zameer Ahamed Khan never expected the boy to shoot him up such a question. He tried to prove smarter by giving a diplomatic answer, but the boy proved to be all the more smart than the former minister.
Khan was campaigning in Nagarathpet. After he came out of a jewellery shop meeting the owners and seeking his support, a boy asked him: “Anna, you had said that if I passed seventh standard you would get me a bike. I have passed seventh standard, but you did not fulfil the promise made to me.” Khan said: “You are still too young to ride a bike. I will get you a bike if you pass SSLC with first class.”
The boy replied: “Okay anna. But, at least get me a bicycle and fulfil your promise and I will campaign for you.”
A totally confused Khan directed his men to purchase a new bicycle. His men bought a new bicycle and Khan rode it with the boy as a pillion rider. Before departing the boy said, “Anna don’t forget your promise and I will pass SSLC with first class!” Now, did the former minister violate model code of conduct ?
Killing two birds with one (s)tone
When elections are round the corner M Krishnappa, the BJP candidate contesting election from the Bangalore South constituency, has chosen a devotional song as his caller tune.
Call him and hear the song ‘Yalli Hanumano Alli Ramano’ sung by Rajkumar.
What is apparently coming out from his caller tune is his devotion for Lord Rama and his love for Rajkumar, an iconic symbol of Kannada Nadu. At least a ‘majority’ of voters of his constituency may be pleased on listening to his caller tune.
