People of this state should a teach a proper lesson to the party (referring to JD(S)) which betrayed their hopes, said former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa. He was speaking at the poll campaign meeting of the BJP candidate C V Mahadevaiah in Gubbi.
Loans at 4 per cent
He said that as the finance minister he doled out many schemes for the welfare of women, children and farmers. Criticising JD(S) he said that when he wanted to give loans to the farmers at the rate of 4 per cent the coalition partner opposed the move.
Briefing the people about the various facilities the party would implement if it was voted to power in the state, he said free power will be given to farmers, rice would be provided at a subsided rate of Rs 2 per kg and separate schemes would be adopted for the women self help groups. In a span of five years houses will be provided to the poor, a monthly allowance of Rs 400 will be given to old and handicapped, an amount of Rs 10,000 will be given to people who marry in mass marriage along with the thali, he added.
Chandrashekar presided over the function. Former MLA Shivananjappa, MP Mallikarjunaiah, candidate C V Mahadevaiah and others were present on the occasion.
